The TikTok integration
Connecting TikTok is optional. The recorder, the editor and the download work without it. This page says exactly what changes if you do connect, because you should be able to read that before you press the button rather than after.
What you are asked for
| Permission | Why it is asked for |
|---|---|
| user.info.basic | To show whose account is connected — your display name and avatar on the dashboard — so a clip is never posted to an account you did not mean. |
| video.upload | To deliver a finished clip into your TikTok drafts, where you finish and post it inside the TikTok app. |
| video.publish | To publish the clip directly, with the caption and privacy settings you chose on the review screen, when you press post. |
Nothing else is requested. Media I/O does not read your videos, your followers, your messages, your analytics, or anyone else's account.
How a post actually happens
- The clip finishes rendering and appears on your dashboard.
- You open the review screen and watch the clip that would be posted — the actual file, not a thumbnail.
- You write the caption and choose who can watch it. The available privacy options are read live from your own TikTok account settings, and none of them are pre-selected.
- You set comment, duet and stitch for this post. Options your account does not permit are shown disabled rather than silently ignored.
- You press the post button. Only then does anything leave this service.
There is no scheduler, no queue that posts later, and no code path that publishes a clip you have not seen. A clip you never approve stays a file on your dashboard until retention deletes it.
Music and content you upload
Clips are made from footage you record or upload. Media I/O adds no music and no third-party material, so the only rights involved are yours. You confirm on the review screen that the content follows TikTok's Music Usage Confirmation and its community guidelines before it can be posted.
What is stored, and for how long
- Your TikTok display name, avatar URL and account identifier.
- Access and refresh tokens, used only to post the clip you approve.
- A record of clips you chose to post.
- Nothing else — no email address, no phone number, no contact list.
Uploaded takes and finished clips are deleted after thirty days.
Disconnecting
Sign out from the dashboard to end the session. To revoke access entirely, go to TikTok, open Settings and privacy → Security and permissions → Manage app permissions, and remove Media I/O; the tokens stop working immediately. To have the stored record deleted as well, write to ruben.ganzerli@gmail.com and it will be removed.
Current status
The TikTok application is under production review. Until it is approved, the integration runs against TikTok's sandbox, which restricts posts to the connected creator's own account and delivers them privately. The review screen states which mode you are in at the moment you post, so what you see is what happens.
