The Instagram integration
Connecting Instagram is optional, and it works with Instagram professional accounts (creator or business). It does two things: it posts the clips you approve, and it brings the comments and messages on your own posts into one screen, where you read them and answer them.
What you are asked for
| Permission | Why it is asked for |
|---|---|
| instagram_business_basic | To show whose account is connected (your username and profile picture on the dashboard), so a clip is never posted to an account you did not mean. |
| instagram_business_content_publish | To publish the clip as a Reel, with the caption you wrote on the review screen, when you press post. |
| instagram_business_manage_comments | To show you the comments on your own posts, and to send the reply you write, from your dashboard. |
| instagram_business_manage_messages | To show you the messages sent to your account, and to send the reply you write. |
Media I/O only reads the account you connect, and only to show that data back to you. It does not read anyone else's account, it does not follow, like or comment on its own, and it never sells or shares what it reads.
How a post actually happens
- The clip finishes rendering and appears on your dashboard.
- You open the review screen and watch the actual file that would be posted.
- You write the caption. A suggestion written from your own words is offered; you edit it or replace it.
- You press the post button. Only then does anything leave this service.
How comments and messages work
Comments on your posts and messages sent to your account appear on the Comments & messages screen, linked from your dashboard. They are read live from Instagram each time that screen opens and are not stored. You read them there and write your reply. A reply is sent only when you press send. There are no automatic replies and no bulk messages.
What is stored, and for how long
- Your Instagram username, profile picture URL and account identifier.
- The access token, kept on the server and never exposed to the browser.
- A record of clips you chose to post.
Disconnecting
To revoke access, open Instagram, go to Settings → Website permissions → Apps and websites, and remove Media I/O. Instagram tells Media I/O at once and the stored token is wiped. Asking Instagram to delete your data from there deletes the account record, your clips and your post records, and gives you a confirmation code. You can also write to ruben.ganzerli@gmail.com.
Current status
The Instagram integration is under Meta's review. Until it is approved, it runs only on the operator's own account, and the connect button is not open to other creators yet. This page describes the service exactly as it is submitted for review.
